Meyer Lemon

The Meyer Lemon Tree is a beloved citrus variety for home growers, prized for its abundant blossoms, rich evergreen foliage, and uniquely sweet lemons that taste like a blend of traditional lemon and mandarin. Compact in size and exceptionally fruitful, this tree is a top choice for Florida gardeners who want reliable harvests, fragrant blooms, and a tropical look that fits beautifully in the landscape or in containers on patios and porches. Because it thrives in warm climates and performs best in USDA Zones 9 through 11, it is available for sale in Florida only.

History of the Meyer Lemon

The Meyer lemon, known botanically as Citrus × meyeri, is believed to be a natural hybrid between a citron and a mandarin or pomelo. First introduced to the United States from China in the early 1900s, it quickly became a favorite among gardeners and chefs for its low acidity, thin rind, and exceptional flavor. Its popularity surged again in the early 2000s after culinary enthusiasts highlighted its versatility in baking, cooking, beverages, and preserves. Today it remains one of the most widely grown citrus trees for home landscapes thanks to its beauty, and generous fruit production.

Meyer Lemon Tree Care

The Meyer Lemon Tree grows best in full sun and thrives in Florida’s warm climate. It prefers slightly acidic, well drained soil. Water regularly during the establishment phase, keeping the soil evenly moist but never saturated. Once mature, allow the top inch of soil to dry before watering again. Fertilize with a citrus specific fertilizer during the spring and summer growing seasons to support blossoms and fruit set. In Florida, Meyer lemons can be grown in the ground or in containers. Container grown trees are ideal for patios and should be brought into a protected area during unusually cold weather. Light pruning in early spring helps shape the canopy and remove weak or crossing branches. Be sure to monitor for common citrus pests such as aphids or mites and treat promptly with neem oil or insecticidal soap if needed.

Meyer Lemon Tree Features

The Meyer Lemon Tree has glossy, deep green leaves and highly fragrant white flowers with a soft purple tint on the undersides. In Florida’s climate, it may bloom more than once per year, often resulting in multiple crops of fruit. The lemons are rounder than typical supermarket lemons, with a smooth rind that ripens from golden yellow to orange yellow. Their flavor is notably sweeter and more aromatic than common lemons. Mature trees typically reach 6 to 10 feet tall and 4 to 8 feet wide when grown in the landscape, but remain smaller in containers, often around 3 to 5 feet tall. This makes the Meyer Lemon an excellent choice for patios, entryways, poolside plantings, and tropical themed gardens. Its year round greenery and fragrant blooms make it just as ornamental as it is productive.

Meyer Lemon Tree vs Regular Lemon

Meyer lemons differ from regular lemons in both flavor and appearance. While common lemons like Eureka or Lisbon have a thick rind and a sharp, acidic taste, Meyer lemons are smaller, rounder, and have a thin, smooth rind that ripens to a deep golden yellow. Their flavor is sweeter and more aromatic, often compared to a blend of lemon and mandarin. Meyer lemon trees also bloom more often in warm climates and stay more compact, making them ideal for containers and home gardens, whereas standard lemon trees are larger and follow a more defined fruiting season.

More power, slightly lower (8%) MPG.
Size: (Pack of 1)
Installed on a 2.0 liter Subaru Impreza. I drive up/down the I5 in california 3-4 times a year. For those that don't know there is about a 200 mile flat stretch where everyone runs at 75-85mph. With various filters (FRAM, BOSCH, Subaru OEM), I would consistently get 29.8 mpg. Once I installed the K&N, I could feel the car pulling with a bit more power, but I noticed that I was getting about 27.5 mpg. Totally worth it as the impreza is a little under powered and I don't drive many miles (6k/year) but if you are putting a lot of miles on your car, you may want to have more mpg.

Very good quality comparable to OEM at a much more reasonable price point.
Size: (Pack of 1)
Last December we bought our first new car in 21 years and the first thing I did is stock up on cabin and engine air filters. I've got nothing against dealership OEM parts and pieces but what I do have an issue with is the prices. Luckily, we all have a bit of control over access to OEM quality parts and pieces at significantly more reasonable prices via Amazon. This filter and it's matching cabin filter are excellent in value and take less than 5 minutes to replace. Compare that to paying the hourly rate at your dealer plus the dealership retail price and you'll do what I did and stock up on these two filters. Definitely recommended.
